Oral injuries and emergencies are quite inconvenient and troublesome. Fortunately, you can prepare and already improve the situation by stocking your first-aid kit with some dental supplies. To help you know what to pack, our dentist, Dr. Kenneth Browning Prince, has a few suggestions.

First, pack floss. Floss can help you in sticky situations, especially when you have a stubborn object stuck between your teeth. So, if you have an object that is stuck, causing pressure, and creating pain, grab the floss and gently remove it. Be careful around the gums as you do so.

Second, pack the Save-a-Tooth® System. This system can help you when you accidentally knock a tooth out of place. It will keep the tooth alive while you wait to see the dentist. This is a great option if you can’t seem to put the tooth back into the gum socket.

Third, pack gauze and pain medication. The gauze can help you stop the bleeding you experience after an oral injury, like a chipped or broken tooth or even injured gum tissues. All you need to do is place the gauze over the area and apply pressure. The pain medication can help relieve the pain you feel until you visit your dentist.
